Daily Devotional - September 27, 2026

Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on the themes from the sermon on Sunday, September 27, 2026:

Day 1: The King Who Comes With Purpose
Reading: Mark 11:1-11
Devotional: Jesus did not drift into Jerusalem. He entered with intention, fulfilling prophecy written centuries before His arrival. Every detail, the borrowed colt, the chosen road, the timing, was orchestrated by a sovereign God. This should anchor your soul today. The same Jesus who controlled every detail of Holy Week controls the details of your life. Nothing in your circumstances has caught Him off guard. He is not scrambling. He is not surprised. He is seated on the throne. Where in your life are you struggling to trust His sovereignty? Surrender that specific thing to Him today, and rest in His purposeful reign.

Day 2: The Lord Has Need of You
Reading: Acts 8:26-40
Devotional: God could have spoken to the Ethiopian official from heaven directly. He chose instead to use Philip, an ordinary man willing to be redirected. The same principle holds today. The Lord has need of you, not because He is limited, but because He has chosen to work through willing people to reach a broken world. You may feel unqualified. Philip simply showed up and obeyed. Your neighbor, your coworker, your family member may be waiting for someone to walk alongside them and point them toward Jesus. Ask God today to make you available, and trust Him to handle the rest.

Day 3: Fruit That Remains
Reading: Matthew 7:15-23; John 15:1-8
Devotional: The barren fig tree in Mark 11 carried every outward sign of life but produced nothing of substance. Jesus used it to expose the danger of religious appearance without genuine spiritual fruit. Church attendance, Bible ownership, and Christian vocabulary are leaves. They are not fruit. Fruit grows from genuine connection to Jesus, the vine. John 15 makes clear that apart from Him, lasting fruit is impossible. Today, resist the temptation to measure your spiritual health by outward markers alone. Ask the Lord honestly: what evidence exists in my daily life that I am truly connected to Him? Let that question lead you to honest prayer.

Day 4: A House of Prayer
Reading: Isaiah 56:6-7; Matthew 6:5-15
Devotional: When Jesus cleared the temple, He was not simply restoring order. He was reclaiming the purpose of the house of God as a place of genuine, accessible prayer for all people. That same reclamation needs to happen in our personal lives. How much of your spiritual life is performance and how much is genuine communion with God? Jesus modeled prayer as honest, dependent, and forgiving conversation with the Father. He also made clear that unforgiveness creates a barrier in that conversation. Is there someone you have refused to forgive? That refusal may be the very thing hindering your prayers. Release them today, and come freely before God.

Day 5: Faith That Moves Mountains
Reading: James 1:2-8; Ephesians 3:14-21
Devotional: Jesus told His disciples that mountain-moving prayer begins with genuine faith in God, not faith in the act of praying itself. The power belongs entirely to the One being addressed. Ephesians 3:20 declares that God is able to do far beyond what we dare to imagine or request. That is not poetic language. That is a doctrinal statement about the limitless capacity of God. Where have you stopped praying boldly because you stopped expecting God to act? Bring that situation before Him again today. Pray with the confidence that the God who raised Jesus from the dead is the same God who hears you now.
