Daily Devotional - Sept 28, 2025

Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on the themes from the sermon on Sunday, September 28, 2025:

Day 1: The Foundation of Faith
Reading: Hebrews 11:1-6
Devotional: Faith is the cornerstone of our relationship with God. As we read in Hebrews, "without faith it is impossible to please God." Today, reflect on what faith means in your life. Is it just an abstract concept, or is it a living, breathing part of your daily walk? Consider how your faith impacts your decisions, your outlook, and your relationships. Remember, faith is not just believing that God exists, but trusting that He is good and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Challenge yourself today to take a step of faith in an area where you've been hesitant. It might be in forgiving someone, trusting God with a difficult situation, or stepping out to serve in a new way.

Day 2: God's Love in Our Suffering
Reading: Romans 8:28-39
Devotional: Joseph's story reminds us that God can work even through our deepest pain and betrayals. As you read today's passage, focus on the promise that God works all things for the good of those who love Him. This doesn't mean all things are good, but that God can bring good out of even the worst situations. Reflect on a time of suffering in your own life. Can you see ways God has used that pain for good? If you're in the midst of a trial right now, ask God for the faith to trust Him even when you can't see the outcome. Remember, nothing can separate us from God's love – not trouble, hardship, or even death itself. Let this truth be an anchor for your soul today.

Day 3: The Power of Obedient Faith
Reading: James 2:14-26
Devotional: Abel's story teaches us that faith is more than just belief – it's obedience in action. James echoes this, showing us that faith without works is dead. Today, examine your own faith. Is it evident in your actions? Are there areas of your life where you believe, but haven't fully surrendered to God's leading? Perhaps there's a ministry opportunity you've been avoiding, or a spiritual discipline you've neglected. Choose one concrete way you can put your faith into action today. Remember, our obedience is not to earn God's love, but to express our trust in Him and to allow His power to work through us.

Day 4: Walking with God in Daily Life
Reading: Genesis 5:21-24, Colossians 1:9-14
Devotional: Enoch's life was summarized simply: "he walked faithfully with God." What a beautiful epitaph! The New Testament expands on what this looks like – being filled with the knowledge of God's will, living a life worthy of the Lord, and bearing fruit in every good work. Today, focus on your daily walk with God. How can you be more aware of His presence throughout your day? Look for ways to "practice the presence of God" in your routine – perhaps through short prayers, moments of gratitude, or by consciously dedicating your tasks to Him. Ask God to help you please Him in all you do, just as Enoch did.

Day 5: Overcoming Bitterness through Faith
Reading: Hebrews 12:14-15, Ephesians 4:31-32
Devotional: The sermon warned us about the danger of allowing a "root of bitterness" to spring up in our hearts. Bitterness often grows from unresolved hurts and a lack of forgiveness. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bitterness in your heart. Are there people you haven't fully forgiven? Situations where you're harboring resentment towards God? Remember Joseph's example – he chose to forgive his brothers and see God's bigger plan, even through immense personal suffering. Forgiveness is an act of faith, trusting God to handle justice and to heal our wounds. Take time to pray, releasing any bitterness to God and asking for His help to forgive. Consider practical steps you can take to extend kindness, even to those who have hurt you.
